Laura Winterling

Astronaut Coach

Topic

Speed defeats Gravity

Laura Winterling takes you on a little journey around our planet at 28,000 km/h. Under the motto: Fundamental Laws of Physics - or How Gravity Influences Your Personal Success, Winterling will demonstrate what astronauts and helicopters taught her about inner attitude and success. She provides tools with which you can find your own way. This talk is designed to inspire, make you laugh and be amazed, and at the crucial moment maybe also help you to 'just do it after all'. Laura Winterling believes that finding, seeing, admitting one's place in the universe would help making the world a better place. She likes the power and energy that radiates when ‘we’ work together, when we help others, shake hands, form a rescue alley on the highway, cry together in front of the TV while watching bad news in the world, or even just watching the European Championship partying with strangers on the street. We are good when we are good! This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

Ji-Hae Park

Violinist

Topic

From a Violinist to an AI Performer

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a particularly strong impact on artists. In her TEDxTalk, Ji-Hae Park talks about her time as a musician during the COVID-19 pandemic and shows the audience how she recreated classical music through the use of AI during this time. Hi, I am the violinist Ji-Hae Park. I play my beloved violin for a living. It is my pure passion and joy, but if you ask me why I live, I would say that the reason of my life is to spread positive messages by playing not only my violin, but my whole life. I enjoy exploring everything I can through music. Maybe that's why I'm so crazy about AI technology right now. In 2013, I spoke at the TED event ‘Dreamer’ in Long Beach, where Elon Musk was the speaker, just before it was my turn. Regardless of the controversies he generates, I greatly admire his ‘stay hungry and stay foolish’ attitude. At the TEDx event ‘Shape your world’ in Darmstadt, I would like to talk about my time as a musician during the COVID-19 pandemic. Normally, traveling to concerts or conferences means I'm always working and practicing. At the beginning of the pandemic it was really hard for me not to be able to pursue my profession, but on the other hand it was the only time when I could rest and improve myself. In that time, I was able to recreate classical music by integrating AI technology… This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Omar El Manfalouty

Professional Pilot and Flight Instructor

Topic

Time to take action

In his talk, Omar El Manfalouty shows how improvisation and voluntary engagement of many different people can help to tackle problems directly, using the example of their humanitarian mission in the central Mediterranean Sea. This direct intervention does not replace a long-term solution, but it already turns the situation around for the better in the meantime. Professionally, Omar El Manfalouty has been a research assistant at the Historical Seminar of Goethe University Frankfurt since 2019 and is pursuing a dissertation project on the role of political freedom for Jewish and Christian groups under Roman rule. As a sideline, he is a professional pilot and flight instructor in Egelsbach near Frankfurt. Since 2018, he has also volunteered as a pilot and foundation board member for the Swiss Humanitarian Pilots Initiative (HPI).
